Frequently Asked Questions

What should I expect at my test appointment?

The medical test administrator will text you approximately 30 minutes or less before arrival. Upon arrival, they will meet you outside your front door, or other outside spot if you prefer (example, on driveway).

The test administrator will arrive in a mask and face shield, and will apply the test for each household individual who was pre-registered online. The test swab is administered via the nose and is applied into the mid-nasal area for the Nasal PCR test and/or rapid antigen test. The rapid antibody test requires a fingerstick.

Our COVID test administrators are a team of nurses and other healthcare professionals.

How long will it take for the results?

For Nasal PCR test results will be available typically within 24 hours but may take up to 48 hours.

For the Rapid Antigen test, results are available within 15 minutes at the time of service.

For the Rapid Antibody test, results are available within 10 minutes at the time of service.

What is the guidance for COVID testing and travel?

CDC and NJ state guidelines for travel-related COVID testing recommend the following for travelers:

  • If travel is unavoidable, travelers should consider getting tested 1-3 days before the trip and again 3-5 days after the trip.

  • If travelers test positive, they should self-isolate for at least 10 days and should postpone travel during that time.

  • If travelers test negative, they should quarantine for a full 7 days after travel.

What type of COVID-19 testing is provided?

We administer the COVID-19 PCR Test processed via Quest Diagnostics. The PCR test is more accurate than the rapid antigen test. This test is administered via a swab that is applied mid-nasally, which means the swab is at the middle of the nose and not at the deep back of the nose.

Lab test accuracy is measured in two ways—specificity and sensitivity. The PCR test currently offered by Quest Diagnostics has specificity values of 99.6% to 100% which keeps false positive results to a minimum.

The rapid antigen test is used to detect active infection with COVID but is less accurate than PCR testing. This test is applied nasally. Results available in 15 minutes at time of service.

The rapid antibody test detects for the presence of antibodies after COVID infection or vaccination. The antibody test is not meant for detecting active COVID infection. Antibodies usually start developing 1-3 weeks after infection or vaccination. Tested via a fingerstick and results within 10 minutes at time of service.
